 Welcome to the Dachshund Ranch

        of Oviedo, Florida!

All of the puppies at the The Dachshund Ranch are
born and raised in an indoor facility.  They have 24
hour access to an outside "potty" area and have
basically started their formal self-training, by their natural instinct to not soil their living quarters, by having
access to this natural area.  They learn by following their mother's example.  I have purchased puppies in the past who were raised on a hard surface like a concrete kennel and found them more difficult to housebreak.

Dachshund Ranch puppies never leave before their 8th week of life at which time they receive their first set of immunizations and their Florida State Health Certificate confirming their good health.  The puppies will need at least two more sets of immunizations* after leaving to complete the series to ensure their safety from disease.  All puppies are micro-chipped, which is included in the purchase price, prior to leaving the Dachshund Ranch with an AVID Microchip and the registration for the micro-chip is prepaid and placed in the
new owner's name.

My contract is simple and can be viewed by selecting  Adoption Contract.  All my puppies are sold as pets with limited AKC registration unless an agreement has been made prior to purchase.  I feel that it is understood that the puppy is to be well cared for in its new home and my hopes are that your puppy will not be used for reproduction.

*Immunization schedules may vary. Check with your
personal veterinarian on his/her preferred schedule.

New owners contractually agree to give me first right of refusal to replace their dachshund if he/she doesn't "work out" in their family.  The puppy must be returned in good health with up-to-date documented immunizations from a licensed veterinarian, transferred micro-chip information and transferred AKC registration.  I have always found new and wonderful homes for puppies that did not "work out".

Please never advertise "free to good home" and let your puppy go to a stranger because some of these puppies
and small dogs (even cats too!) end up as training bait for fighting dogs.  I never  want one of the puppies born here to come to that tragic end.

I suggest that prospective owners who are looking for a dachshund to adopt incorporate my  philosophy when making their decision by asking themselves, "Would I ever let my new dachshund come back to this home for an extended stay, for instance, when I'm vacationing?" If you find that you answer this question with a resounding "NO!", then please don't purchase a puppy there.  I do not support PUPPY MILLS and I hope that you will not.

Training, persistence and routine are crucial activities in which new owners must involve themselves during the first year of their dachshund's life...not to forget love and patience.  The rewards are beneficial for the lifetime you will spend with your new dachshund which can sometimes be as long as 18 years.

I appreciate your "visit".  I hope that you have enjoyed viewing The Dachshund Ranch family.

                              Sincerely,  Lisa Seibert
